On The Road to 10 Years of Happily Ever After

Marriage isn’t easy - admittedly who among us doesn’t wish the ‘romance stage’ would last forever!  In reality, it takes a lot of work, compromise, and sacrifice to make a marriage last. But when you find the right person, it’s worth the proverbial blood sweat and tears to hold true to those vows.

On June 11, 2015 Glenn & I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It was a fairy tale wedding, “Made in Chicago,” at the Walnut Room at Marshall Fields! I felt like Cinderella, with my handsome prince. I had no idea what the future had in store for me, and frankly, at the time I didn’t care!

Shortly after our 1st anniversary I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. Glenn stood by me every step of the way, accompanying me to every oncologist appointment -  he still does to this day.

He helped raise Sara as his own, merging into this cooky blended family of half-siblings and step-siblings seamlessly.  That being said, it wasn’t always smooth sailing - there were plenty of rough patches, and some hurdles that seemed awfully steep at the time. But I made a vow, for better or worse, and the optimist in me always prevails!

So here we are, 10 years down the road - and we’re heading to Hawaii on Saturday, to renew our vows. My daughter and my parents are joining us for a sunset ceremony next week that will take place along the beach in Maui, the same place where we honeymooned 10 years ago!

I invite you to join us “virtually” as I will be posting on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as streaming live video on Periscope from time to time!

I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know this - I’m looking forward to marrying the man I love all over again!
